Gallery North opened its doors in January 2009 as an important contemporary exhibition space with vision and great potential; a public space for the free, disinterested exchange of ideas as well as for sheer visual delight.
In its first 12 months Gallery North has hosted a programme of events providing the contemplative setting that exhibitions need but also the sense of energy, expertise and intellectual and imaginative adventure that a University teaching and learning environment can bring.
We have been fortunate to have seen internationally-renowned artists as well as emerging home grown talent; and cutting-edge new art, as well as exhibitions such as Politics and People, of a broader, more historical nature.
Gallery North has also produced a number of publications based around the exhibitions it hosts which are available to purchase from our School of Arts and Social Sciences Academic Press site.
Join our mailing list for invitations to future events and exhibitions.
Gallery North also hosts Peel Magazine: Peel is developed and edited through our Gallery North internship programme, follow Peel here.
We are pleased to announce that Gallery North will be hosting The Woon Foundation Painting and Sculpture Art Prize. The prize is open to final year undergraduate fine art painters and sculptors in the UK. Please check the link for further information and application details.
